Florida accepts Carl's invitation for dinner, but a disagreement cuts the date short.
Florida reluctantly agrees to go on her first date since James died. She goes to a restaurant with Carl where they have a rude waiter. Florida does her best to be forgiving of the waiter, but this upsets Carl and he walks out.
Although his relationship with Florida (Esther Rolle) has gotten off on the wrong foot, Carl Dixon (Moses Gunn) nevertheless invites her out to dinner. Somewhat reluctantly, Florida agrees to go out on her first date in decades. Alas, the evening turns into disaster when the combustible Carl expresses outrage over the rudeness of the staff of a fancy restaurant -- and walks out, leaving Florida in the lurch.
