Something Old, Something New is the twenty-first episode of Season 5 of Good Times, and the 106th episode overall in the series. Written by Sid Dorfman, the episode, which was directed by Gerren Keith, originally aired on CBS-TV on March 13, 1978.
Grandpa Evans comes to visit with his fiance and an idea to make them rich. The plan is derailed when his fiance, Lena, chooses to walk out on him because she feels neglected. Richard Ward guest stars.
The Evans's grandfather, Henry visits and announces that he is postponing his marriage. His fiancé is not happy at all.
In his final visit in "Something Old, Something New", Grandpa Henry and his now fiancee Lena Anderson, who accompanys him in his visit to the Evans's apartment again, has a hard time understanding Henry's reasoning in that he wants to postpone their upcoming marriage, this over concerns that the two would struggle on Social Security together, as the U.S. Patent office turned down his latest invention; a food compresser, as he says "They had two more like it..even the Japanese had one with a built in AM/FM radio!
Florida, Willona, and the others get to two to reconcile, as Lena was contemplating breaking off their engagement at first, as Henry changes his mind and decides to marry her.
